NordicTrack Treadmill Frequently Asked Questions

There are many new and innovative features offered by a brand new NordicTrack treadmill with which buyers may not be familiar. For this reason, the manufacturer has decided to answer some common questions, and as an owner, they may be questions you have in the future.

1. What do I do if there is no reading from the chest pulse monitor?

First, make sure that the monitor is positioned properly on the body. It should be underneath any clothing and against bare skin. It should also be positioned as high under the pectoral muscles as the user can tolerate. The user can also try moving it slightly lower or higher if it still does not work. In addition, the logo on the unit should be facing outward and right-side up. Re-moistening the electrode areas could also do the trick. Finally, as there may be magnetic interference from power lines, it could also help to relocate the treadmill entirely.

2. What do I do if there is no reading from the EKG handlebars?

It may first help to clean the metal areas on the handlebars with a damp cloth. Then, ensure that when the bar is held, the hand is wrapping around as to be touching both the top and bottom plates. Stop exercise by standing on the side rails in order to check your pulse–the stillness can promote accuracy. If still no solution is found, remove the key, unplug the machine, and then plug it back in and restart the machine.

3. What steps of routine maintenance do I need to remember for my treadmill?

This model features a maintenance-free belt, which means there are only a few things to remember. Ensure that it is properly tightened and centered–it should be possible to lift each edge of the belt at least three or four inches from the deck. Consistently check the hardware to ensure they are secure and have a firm grip as well.

4. Why is there a powdery substance coming off my machine?

This is a product of the maintenance-free treadbelt that has a high-performance lubricant coating it. Thus, this powder is simply the lubricant coming off the machine, which is normal for when it is new. No action needs to be taken on the part of the user.
