One of the many things offered by the Nordictrack Elite 9500 Pro that most other treadmills do not is the ability to check your pulse with a chest sensor. Making it possible to check one’s pulse in a hands-free fashion opens up doors for all sorts of heart-rate oriented workouts and goals.
How To Wear The Sensor
First, the chest pulse sensor must be put on properly. It has two parts: the chest strap and the sensor. Insert the tab from the chest strap into the opening on one end of the sensor. Position the sensor underneath the buckle on the strap. Wrap the strap around your body and attach the other end of the strap to the sensor. Ideally, the sensor should be pressed tightly against your bare skin just beneath the pectoral muscles.
Once the strap is secure and the sensor is in place, with the logo facing outward and right-side-up, the electrode areas must be moistened. A saline solution such as a contact solution will do. Pulling the unit away from the body a bit, put the saline solution on both of the electrode areas. Then, return the sensor to the proper position against the chest, adjusting the belt to ensure it will remain secure.
Storage
There are a few tips to remember when doing this. Firstly, dry off the sensor after each use. Otherwise, the electrode sensors will remain on and drain the battery. Also, make sure that the unit is stored in a warm area with no moisture. Avoid keeping it in any container that may trap moisture, such as a plastic bag. Do not allow the sensor to be exposed to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for long periods of time.
Cleaning
When cleaning the unit, always use a damp cloth and avoid anything abrasive or containing chemicals. If issues occur, ensure that the NordicTrack Elite 9500 Pro sensor is being worn properly, as stated in the aforementioned directions. Other troubleshooting ideas include re-moistening the electrode areas, remain in the center of the walking belt during exercise, or even try relocating the treadmill in case there is magnetic interference.
